Audiobooks for Winter Road Trips

While winter is probably not the recommended time to take a road trip, sometimes they are a must or a want just to fight off the winter blues and providing there isn't a snowstorm.

Playing your favorite tunes is a blast when passing the time. What about pulling out those audiobooks? Have you exhausted what you have?

Check out this brief list of audiobooks for your next winter road trip. These are also ones that your whole family will enjoy...PLUS it's a great alternative to screen time. Gotta love that!

  •        Holes by Lois Sachar

  •        The Swiss Family Robinson by B.J. Harrison

  •       How to Eat Fried Worms by Thomas Rockwell

  •        Indian in the Cupboard by Lynn Reid Banks

  •        Because of Winn Dixie by Kate DiCamillo

  •        Coraline by Neil Gaiman

  •        The BFG by Roald Dahl

After listening to a couple of audiobooks, remember to take those much-needed rest stops which include brief outdoor exercise to stretch those legs. It's another option to keep those hands and eyes off technology devices such as iPads, Kindles, iPhones, and more!

Once back in the family vehicle, have a child pick the next audiobook to listen to on the next leg of your trip. After listening, expand on it and ask questions or even make up songs about what you listened to. It's great to expand the young mind and again, beyond technology. After that's completed, another child can pick their next audiobook to listen to and make up some sort of game for everyone to engage. It's a great way to keep the road trip "classic."
