2020 Ram 1500 vs 2020 Chevrolet Silverado

Trucks have launched themselves to the top of the market in the past few years thanks to their capability and stylish interiors that come loaded with high-tech and creature comfort features. Due to their massive popularity, there are a lot of different trucks on the market from a wide array of manufactures. If you're looking for a new truck, then we have to recommend you check out the 2020 Ram 1500 and the 2020 Chevrolet Silverado. We've already compared the two, so all you have to do is keep reading.

2020 Ram 1500 Power & Handling

Let's dive right into the different engines that are available to every model in the 2020 Ram 1500 model lineup. The standard engine for the pickup truck is a 3.6L Pentastar V6 engine with eTorque that delivers 305 hp, 269 lb-ft of torque, and can tow up to 7,730 pounds. Then there is a 5.7L Hemi V8 engine that can be had with or without eTorque technology. Both variants make 395 hp and 410 lb-ft of torque, but the version with eTorque can tow up to 12,750 pounds. Finally, we have the new 3.0L EcoDiesel V6 engine that makes 260 hp, 480 lb-ft of torque, and can tow up to 12,560 pounds.

2020 Chevrolet Silverado Power & Handling

Chevrolet offers several different engines for the Silverado, but there is a catch; only certain engines can be mated with specific trim levels. The base model Silverado Work Truck is powered by a 4.3L V6 engine that makes 285 hp, 305 lb-ft of torque, and can tow up to 7,900 pounds. The Work Truck can also be paired with a 5.3L V8 that makes 355 hp, 383 lb-ft of torque, and can tow up to 10,000 pounds or a 2.7L Turbo that makes 310 hp, 348 lb-ft of torque, and can tow up to 7,100 pounds. Other engine options for the Silverado include a 3.0L inline-six turbocharged diesel engine and a 6.2L V8 engine.

2020 Ram 1500 Features & Design

The base Ram 1500 Tradesman isn't just a plain-Jane work truck, it comes with some pretty nifty features including a 4G LTE Wi-Fi hotspot, a six-speaker sound system, a Class III hitch receiver, and heated mirrors. The Big Horn adds chrome exterior accents, foglights, and 18-inch aluminum wheels. The Rebel is made for dirt trails and comes with an electronic locking rear axle, 33-inch Goodyear Wrangler DuraTrac® all-terrain tires, tow hooks, and more. On the upper trim levels you can find heated & ventilated front and rear seats, a 12-inch touchscreen, four-corner air suspension, a spray-in bedliner, and more!

2020 Chevrolet Silverado Features & Design

Let's talk about what the Chevrolet Silverado has for features. The base Work Truck comes standard with a 7-inch touchscreen, steel wheels, a six-speaker sound system, and Bluetooth. The Custom adds a few features such as heated mirrors, cruise control, and tow hooks. The Custom Trail Boss is offered with 4WD, the Z71 off-road suspension package, and a trailering package. The LT adds LED headlights and an 8-inch touchscreen, while the RST adds a power-release tailgate and in-bed lighting. On the LTZ, you'll find dual-zone automatic climate control, leather upholstery, and navigation. The High Country finishes off the lineup with a Bose sound system, a spray-in bedliner, and rear parking sensors

Conclusion:

Quite frankly, we're not a fan of the fact that Chevrolet makes the higher performance engine exclusive to the top trim levels or the fact that each trim level only adds a few more features than the previous model. The 2020 Ram 1500, on the other hand, has a model lineup that is bursting with features, and each of the outstanding engines in the powertrain lineup can be paired with any trim level. We highly recommend you take the 2020 Ram 1500 out for a test drive, and there is no better place to do that than right here at St. Clair CDJR. We look forward to seeing you soon.
